At our Rosh Chodesh Iyar assembly our 8th grade "G.O. Girls" put on a skit about jealousy. We then watched a follow-up video from Bidrachov, the elementary division of the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, where the girls recognized the pitfalls of jealousy and will hopefully gain the tools to overcome it.

The fourth grade boys practiced expository writing in the form of How-To writing. They described how to make a peanut butter (actually, apple butter) and jelly sandwich with careful attention to detail and proper sequencing. They then followed their EXACT instructions to create the sandwich. Some boys were able to make the sandwich....and some realized they left out important details that stopped them in the middle of the process.
Geometry comes alive in the 4th grade! They used hands on manipulatives to learn about points, lines, segments, and angles.

Rabbi A. Portowicz joined the 5-8 grade talmidim for a Seudas Hodaa. Last year our talmidim davened for his Refuah Shelaimah. At the Seudah he shared words of appreciation and chizzuk.

Rabbi Zishe Kohn Shlit"a, shared Divrai Torah with the boys in Yeshiva. He began with a deep halacha shiur to the 7th grade then an engaging Dvar Torah/story to the upper grades. We all left very inspired.
Before we began our magnificent "Kol Hashvi'in Chavivin" fair, our students and mothers recited Tehillim together for our Acheinu Bnei Yisrael in Ukraine.

Did you know that "two"day is "Two"sday - 2/22/22? The 4th grade had fun coming up with 22 nouns, verbs, and adjectives in 22 minutes! They also learned what a palindrome is. The last time there was a date with a palindrome was this day in 1922. Can you figure out when the next palindrome will be???

2nd grade is utilizing SuccessMaker Enterprise by Pearson Digital in our Grus computer lab. This program helps support classroom instruction in Reading and Math.

We began Adar with excitement and enthusiasm. During the Rosh Chodesh breakfast the boys came with creative hats. We had a competition which had a tremendous amount of excitement. The younger boys, including the Pre 1A, celebrated at the assembly with their hats and you were able to see smiles throughout the day. A beautiful way to welcome in the month of Adar!
In honor of Rosh Chodesh, Rabbi Yaakov Lehrfield, the Morah D'asrah of the Young Israel of Staten Island delivered a beautiful story about Kiddush Hashem to our 5-8 graders.

5th graders getting their first ACE tokens. We are working towards a culture of excellence in the Yeshiva. The ACE (Achieve, Celebrate Excellence) program is designed to help raise the level of our students’ industriousness and cultivate a sense of personal pride in their school performance. There is a daily rubric and token system that allows the fifth through seventh grade boys to earn their reward and celebrate their accomplishments. Based on early feedback, the boys are really “ACE”ing it!

We are so proud of our talmidos in grades 5-8 who were in the chidon on Sefer Breishis.They drew upon their broad range and detailed knowledge to answer challenging questions.
During the 1st - 4th grade Brachos Party the talmidim learned the correct order of brochos and listened to Rabbi Farkas, our 3rd grade Rebbi, say the longest Mayin Shalosh (Al Hamichia, etc.). This exciting day served as our kickoff for the Brochos Bee which will take place immediately after the winter break.
The special power of brachos is well known. The Gemara tells of the time a plague struck Klal Yisroel and of Dovid Hamelech’s successful solution to stop it. Dovid asked every Jew to recite 100 brachos each day and to be mindful of its meaning. These brachos serve to cultivate a greater awareness of the overwhelming kindness Hashem showers us with, each and every day

From the beginning of Chodesh Kislev, the boys in grades 3-8 have been preparing for the Annual Yedios Klalios Contest. The excitement was felt at each competition as each class shared their knowledge. Congratulations to all the talmidim on a job well done!

Grades 3-8 have been reviewing their Millim from the previous grade to prepare for the Major Millim Mastery. Each student was treated to a cookie during the MMM, and everyone concluded with a feeling of accomplishment!

As an introduction to learning and davening the Shemona Esrei, the 3rd grade met with Rav Chaim Mintz at the Yeshiva of Staten Island. They discussed the power of Tefillah.
At the Yeshiva Learning Program, our 3rd - 8th grade Talmidim enjoyed the morning with their fathers and grandfathers. They were treated to a delicious breakfast sponsored by the PTA, joined a siyum and heard Divrei Torah from Rabbi Yaakov Lehrfield. They all joined Shiur and learned with chevrusa.

Our staff had an informative In-Service Day yesterday with Dr. Ilana Gelfond OD, FCOVD focusing on how to identify a child that has great potential but lacks visual skills, and with Mrs. Malka Katzman, MSW, incorporating social-emotional learning in the classroom.
